Jin Xuan, also known as No.12 was created by the Taiwanese Research Experimental Station (TRES) and is a relatively new cultivar. It has wide, fleshy leaves which, when cured, provide a soft creamy flavour and a sweet fragrance. This makes it one of the most popular Taiwanese Oolongs. Jin Xuan is a relatively robust cultivar that offers better resistance to disease and insects. It also has a higher growth rate than most other Oolongs (circa 40% faster) making it a popular choice amongst the tea gardens of Nantou County.
